Hipster Frank. That's how everyone knows him. In the sea of Greeks which populates our regular weekly meetings, it is always Frank (along with one of our other leaders, Luke) who is proudly sporting skinny jeans and a v-neck. He moves to the beat of his own drum. Unique. Just the way he likes it. Except... Frank is so much more. He is a soon-to-be junior at The University of Alabama whose passions include: inner city youth, rescuing international sex slaves, Jesus, & working out, to name a few. When I think of Frank, the first word that comes to mind is: delight. He delights in the world around him, delights in his Maker, delights in opportunities & he is an absolute delight to be around. It's interesting that the core of this descriptive is light because, undoubtedly, it is his light, Christ's light within, which radiates so abundantly. This past summer Frank was one of fifteen Bama students who ventured boldly into the orient for the sake of the Gospel. He is optimistic. He is growing. He is... a delight.

My name is Frank, and I'm a student on the front lines of not only
the University of Alabama, but God's Kingdom in this world. Recently I
had the chance to go to East Asia With Cru, to share the Gospel with my
fellow peers thousands of miles away. There was when I truly understood
the meaning of God is a God of all nations and not just ours, it says in
the Word, "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father." Phil 2:9=11.
When I was in East Asia I saw the imminence of how much
the Gospel was needed in these peoples' lives. I was passing thousands
of people daily, and yet only about 3 of them truly knew Jesus Christ...
for the first time able to actually see the need and not just be told
about it; it was needless to say life-changing. Yet in these moments
while I was in East Asia the Lord also spoke to me and showed me what it
truly means to be a student on the front lines, and not just a student
that says he is.. he showed me that missionaries are not just people
that travel to exotic places and find the most interesting people to
tell them about Jesus; but they are people daily who take us the cross
of Christ in the business, workplace, and everyday life showing the love
of Christ through their lives.
The Lord was able to show me this because of what Cru has done
for me in my life. They truly showed me what it means to hold a personal
deep relationship with Christ, and what it means to surrender my life
daily to him, exactly just how it says in Acts 20:24 "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me —the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace." Because
of God's work the Bama Cru, I have been able to not only reconnect with
Jesus, but grow in such a tremendous way that the only culprit that
could be behind this growth is Christ... because of Bama Cru, I have
been able to truly discover what life really is, God's love on display
for all to see and to be apart of.
1 John
4:9-11 "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God
sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In
this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent
his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved
us, we also ought to love one another."
